Ascent to Muztagh-Ata Peak. Climbing to the peak

Route: Bishkek – Torugart – Kashgar – Muztagh-Ata 7546m – Kashgar – Torugart – Bishkek

Duration – 27 days

History:

Muztagh Ata first gained the attention of climbers in 1894, when the Swedish explorer Sven Hedin attempted it on a yak! Unfortunately they were denied the summit and retreated from 19,500feet. All early attempts were thwarted including one by the British explorers Tillman and Shipton, who in 1947 got to within 200 feet of the summit. It was finally conquered in 1956 by a large Russian-Chinese expedition.

Weather:

The best season for climbing is June until mid September, with low winds and long days of warm sunshine. On the summit you can expect temperatures to vary between -20 and -30c.

Itinerary:

Days 1-3. Arrival to Bishkek. Rest at the Hotel *** and drive to Tash-Rabat yurt inn (450km) Two days trekking in Tash-rabat gorge for acclimatization (B-L-D) Overnight in the yurts.

Day 4.  Tash-Rabat - Torugart/Kashgar - 270km Drive to the Torugart Pass, crossing the Kyrgyzstan-China border; enter Torugart pass, our guide and transport will meet at the border drive down to check post declare all customs clearing further Kashgar over night at Hotel . 

Day 5.  Kashgar - Karakul lake - Pamir Glaciers.

Drive KKh highway until Subash pass, meet the camel driver loading the gear and equipment trekking to base camp, set up base camp.

Day 6. Base camp

Reorganize the climbing equipment, rest and acclimatization’s

Days 7 – 22. Climbing activity, return to base camp 

Day 23. Base camp –Kashgar .over night in Kashgar

Day 24.  Kashgar explore sight seeing rest and shopping . over night in Kashgar 

Day 25. Leave for Torugart pass - Naryn. Hotel or yurt in Naryn.

After breakfast, drive to Torugart Pass; (370KM) crossing the China-Kyrgyzstan border; (B+Lunch box + Dinner)

Day 26.  Naryn – Bishkek (350km) After breakfast drive to Bishkek. In the lunch time visit Kochkor village (lunch and felt show) Overnight Hotel ***

Day 27.  Departure

Price includes:

Kyrgyz portion: transportation to Torugart pass back and forth, hotels, yurt inn, escort guide, all meals

Chinese portion: Climbing permit, necessary paper work liaison officer, customs declarations of climbing equipment. base camp fresh meal  10days including service, base camp electronic supply recharge, laptop, cell phone, S-B radios, GPS… English speaking base camp guide, cooking tent, kitchen gas tank, kitchen restaurant, kitchen table. Camel transportations, overland transportation. Over 10 pax will arrange the luggage trucks from border to until the camels park. Tourgate pass Permit,  B/D/L service kashgar, on the road … sight seeing excursion entrance fee

Price not include:

Altitude guide. Altitude tents, altitude meals, porters from BC to any further camps, camp 1 or camp 2, until summit… personal expenses, excess baggage charges, tipping local stuff, hotel mini-bar, laundry service, etc…

Notice: (the climbing permits include 1-11 pax, over 11 pax we will extra charge 223 USD$ per extra climbers…

Importance: nationality difference (for example) each groups have joint different nationality’s passport, (for example) each different country climber extra supplements also $223 for climbing permits. Groups of climbers from same country does not need supplements, only supplements if over 11 pax.

***S-B radios, GPS it needs to declarations when the enter Tourgate pass, please announce us  those equipment before come to the mountain.
