Bike tour in Kyrgyzstan (MTB tour)
Route: Bishkek – Son-Kul lake – Tash-Rabat – Naryn – Terskey mountain range (Tosor pass 3860m) – Issyk-Kul – Bishkek Duration: 14 days Itinerary: Day 1. Arrival to Bishkek. Transfer to Hotel. Citytour. (Visit to the centre part of the city, Osh bazaar). Day 2. Transfer/Drive to National Park Ala-Archa (40 km). Cycle to Kashka-Su gorge, Chon Kurchak, Norus tourist centre (1950m, 65km, 5-6 hours) Day 3. Cycle from Toguz Bulack to Kegety gorge to Priut Kegety (60 km, 4-5 hours). Kegety gorge. Camp 2200 m. Day 4. Cycle from Priut Kegety along gorge via Kegety pass (3805m) to East Karakol (45-50 km, 5-6 hours), meeting with transport. O/n at this place Start at 6-7 o'clock. Crossing the river four times you must do before 9 o'clock. This is the old road made for crossing animals. It doesn't use very long time and it is real way for mountain bike. Some part of the way is broken; some of the parts are covered by stones. Transportation cannot escort group. It drives around. Meeting with transport in East Karakol valley. Day 5. Cycle from camp to Den Alysh village 22km, then transfer by car from East Karakol to Kyz-Art pass (2684m, about 2,5-3 hours, 65km). Cycling from Kyz-Art pass (2684m) to Chara-Archa pass (3061m, 5km, 1-1,5 hours), then descent to Djumgal river (15km), where we will meet transport. This way is fantastic for bikers. Soft descent by animal paths. O/n in the near river Day 6. Cycling to Tuez-Ashu pass (3229m, distance 20km 2,5-3 hours) , then descent to the shore of Song-Kul lake. The way to the Tuez-Ashu pass is rather difficult, but descent and way along the lake is very fine. Day 7. Cycle through Baetovo village to At-Bashi river by good road for bikes. 60-70km O/n in tents. All meals. Day 8. Cycle to Tash-Rabat via Beurailu pass and Kulak-Ashuu Pass.(3390 m 70km). The day is very interesting and rather difficult. O/n in yurt. All meals. Day 9. Half day rest. Excursion to Tash Rabat-caravanserai. (1,5-2h) (Tash Rabat, a stone fortress, with the altitude of about 3500 m above sea-level. Tash Rabat is located 80km from Torugart and 90km from Naryn. It is a carefully restored stone building that once housed an inn on the Great Silk Road. This caravanserai was occupied in the 10th century. The origins of the caravanserai, which underwent some restoration work in the 1980s, are not clear. Today the caravanserai is a square, rather squat-looking building that is much bigger than it appears from the outside because it digs deep into the hillside behind. Inside there is a domed central chamber leading to the remains of 30 dank cold rooms including, opposite the entrance, the khans own quarters. One chamber contains two underground dungeons, one of which has been filled in and another, which is apparently 10 meters deep. There is also a well and supposedly an old tunnel, possibly leading to a look-out point. The chambers on either side of the entrance each have a broad, raised ledge, which is said to be a communal bed used by the caravanserais soldiers, who were garrisoned here to protect against bandits). and after lunch drive to Narin river by car (120 km). Tent. All meals. Day 10. Cycle to Little Naryn along the river. Very interesting road (70 km.) O/n in tents. All meals
Day 11. Cycle to Jilisu hot springs. 60 km. O/n in the tents. All meals. Day 12. Cycle through Syrty and Tosor pass 3860m to Tosor village. 70km. (Issyk-Kul as it is said is the Pearle of Kyrgyzstan. The name Issyk–Kul in Kyrgyz means "warm lake" and it's really so cause it never freezes in winter time. Lake lies in a basin at 1,600 meters, one of the deepest (702 meters) and largest (6,280 sq.km) in the world. It derives its fame from its sky blue color, high mineral content and golden beaches. There're many legends telling how the lake was formed and how Kyrgyz people came to this place.
