Trekking From Konorchek to Karakol
Destination Kygyzstan. Kyrgyz Ala-Too range and East part of the mountain range Terskey Ala Too. Trekking goes along finest part of above ranges. The Kyrgyz Ala-Too goes along the Chu valley. The highest altitude is 4875m and 190km long. The range Terskey Ala Too is situated to the south of Issyk Kul Lake. The length of the range is ca 250km. Elevation till 5218m above Best time for journey – July-August Duration: 16 days Group size: 2-15 pax Meals: All meals (Russian, Asian, European meal). Breakfast and dinner are hot, lunch is lunchboxes. Itinerary: Day 1. Bishkek Early morning arrival in Bishkek and TRF to Hotel .Rest. Sightseeing tour in Bishkek (Independence square, Historical Museum, Osh Bazaar), money changing and welcome dinner After breakfast drive to Ala-Archa gorge. Walking along the gorge. Picnic lunch. Ala-Archa is an alpine national park in the Tian Shan Mountains, established in 1976. The close location of the gorge allows getting the place within one hour from Bishkek city, within this time you will rise from 750 to 2100 meters above sea level. The name Ala-Archa is translated as Bright Juniper from Kyrgyz as the whole gorge is covered with various trees including the main one - juniper. Ala Archa is a perfect place to spend a day walking in the gorge. The region has also many climbing routes of high complexity, and peaks with altitudes from 4,000 m to 4,875m m above the sea level. Back to the city. Dinner. Day 3. Bishkek – Shamcy gorge (110km) Drive to Tokmok city and further to Burana tower. Tokmak is the commercial centre of the Chui valley, 60 km east of Bishkek. It was an important link in the string of forts erected by the Kokand Khanate in the 18th century to protect the lucrative trade routes between Kashgar and Tashkent. It was the regional administrative centre until 1878, when a series of floods destroyed much of the town and drove the exasperated bureaucrats to relocate to Pishpek.
Burana Tower - situated 10 km south of Tokmok, is all that remains of the ancient city Balasagun, which was established by the Karahanids at the end of the 10th century. The entire museum complex today includes the tower itself (24.6 m high), reconstructions of mausoleums, a mound that is all that remains of the palace, a collection of balbals (grave stones) and a museum. From the Tower, it is possible to head into the mountains to a picturesque valley to the Kegety or Shamshy gorges. Lunch in the yurt in Kyrgyz stile. After drive to Shamcy gorge to the start of the trekking. O/N in the tents. Day 4. Trekking to Kyzyl-Suu gorge. Trekking to Kyzyl-Suu gorge. The way goes along the light mountain passes and grass slopes. The time of the rout is 6 hours. The altitude from 1800m to 2300m. O/N in the yurts. Day 5. Konorchek Kanyon. Trekking to Konorchek kanyon. Walking down along the Kyk-Jar.Suu gorge to Konorchek kanyon (5-6 hours). Here we’ll stay 2 nights. O/N in the tents. Day 6. Konorchek gorge. Walking along the gorge. Here you can take very nice pictures. O/N in the tents. Day 7. Issyk-Kul. Trekking to Boom gorge (5-6 hours). Boom gorge On the way to Lake Issyk Kul, after 112km, the road enters "Boom Gorge", which lies at the eastern end of the Kyrgyz Range and provides the only corridor between the two. Converging together through this narrow canyon are a highway and a railway. It attracts people’s attention also with the great Chu River where some extremely brave people can do rafting. It’s situated on the altitude of 1800m. Meeting by transport and drive along the South part of the lake Issy-Kul to the yurt camp at the beach. O/N in the yurts. Day 8. Jety-Oguz gorge. Drive to Jety-Oguz gorge till confluence of Telety gorge. Meeting with porters and trekking along the Telety gorge (2-3 hours). O/N in the tents.
Day 9. Telety pass – Karakol gorge Cross over Telety pass (3600 m) down to the Karakol River. First the trail ascents the stiff rocky terrain. Then it levels into green grassy spot, bypasses coarse-stone scree and runs down the mountain stream that is forded twice. After lunch we carry Day 10. Sirota.
Ascend from Karakol river up to Sirota place. We trek first down valley along a good road for a short while and, past mountaineering camp site, cross over a foot bridge into the thick forest. 2600mO/N in the tents Day 11. Ala-Kul pass – Arashan gorge.Cross over Ala-Kul pass 3860 m, descend alongside of Arashan River to Altyn Arashan hot springs. We descent along the river meeting local herders and, possibly, visiting their yurts to taste kumyz, airan, milk. We camp at Altyn Arashan hot springs and go bathing in the spa. End of trek and farewell party with our crew. Tents.
Round trek to Altyn Arashan or rest. Overnight in the same place. Altyn Arashan “Golden Spa” is about 20km from Karakol. This is probably the most visited place and is renowned for its beautyIt passes through pine forests, which contain many hidden springs.There is a small museum with stuffed animals. The area includes the Arashan State Nature Reserve, which is the special botanical research preserve. O/N in the tents.
Walking down from Altyn-Arashan (4 hours) and further drive to Karakol. Guest House. Full board.
City tour Karakol, then drive to north part of Issyk Kul Lake. Hotel
Drive to Bishkek. Farewell dinner with folk concert. Hotel Day 16. Departure.
