Visa support for Turkmenistan

All foreign travelers to Turkmenistan are required to hold a visa. Travelers from countries with a Turkmenistan embassy, consulate or diplomatic representative must purchase their visa in their home country or in any Turkmen embassy located near your home country/location before departing for Turkmenistan. Otherwise, they will be sent back on the next available flight! 

OrexCA.com can provide you with an invitation - visa support letter (essential to obtaining a visa) for a maximum stay of 2 weeks. Obtaining official government approval for the invitation letter usually takes 10 working OR 25 calendar days by the State Immigration Service of Turkmenistan (This is a new government agency). In order to receive a letter of invitation confirmed by the of the State Immigration Service of Turkmenistan:

  • Full Name
  • Date of Birth
  • City and Country of Birth
  • Citizenship
  • Passport Number
  • Date of passport issue and expiration
  • Gender
  • Occupation and Place of Employment
  • Port of Entry
  • Date(s) of Entry and Departure
  • Cities and Sites you wish to visit
  • City/country where you will obtain visa
  • Fax number for sending visa support letter
  • Short travel program and hotel where you plan to stay 

It is required to submit a photocopy (or scan) of traveler's passport to the state immigration service of Turkmenistan to receive an approved invitation letter.

All other visitors can purchase a visa from local authorities on arrival. Again, however, a letter of invitation from a company registered in Turkmenistan, endorsed in writing by the Turkmen Immigration Office, is required and must be presented to immigration officials upon arrival. The visa fee for Turkmenistan is US$ 61 upon arrival in Saparmurat Turkmenbashy International Airport in Ashgabat.

One more important thing:

According to a new decree, the State Committee for Tourism and Sport of Turkmenistan will issue TRAVEL ENTRY PASSES for each guest, to be given to them by an OrexCA.com representative before reaching passport control at the border. 

Second important thing:

All tourists must be registered at the City Tourism Board. Registration fee is US$ 5 per person. Sometimes we include this fee in the tour price, as it depends on the cost of the tour. Please bring with you the following documents for registration:

By Air

1) Valid Passport;
2) 2 photos (3 x 4 cm);
3) Passport photocopies (2).
By Land
- Valid Passport;
- 2 Passport Photo (3x4);
- Visa application form;
- 2 passport photocopies (page with photo of traveler);
- Visa fee (see below).

In case you wish to receive your Turkmenistan visa at the Turkmen border, we will always send our representative to the hotel where you are staying in Khiva or Urgench in Uzbekistan. In this case, you must pay an additional US $30 for our representatives' transportation expenses. He always travels to Urgench or Khiva to deliver visa application forms for guests to fill in and collects all passports and visa fees to arrange Turkmen visa; in case they receive visa at the border, the Visa Dept. Offices of the State Immigration Service of Turkmenistan in Dashoguz, located in the north of Turkmenistan, only operates on working days (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday). However, sometimes visa facilitator himself travels to the Farab border in the east of Turkmenistan to issue Turkmen visa on the spot to Foreign Travelers. 

Please note that Visa Departments don't work on Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday and during Public Holidays, as those days are considered holidays. 

By Air

Visa fee for Turkmenistan is US$ 81, payable upon arrival in Saparmurat Turkmenbashy International Airport.

How many days are required to issue the visa?

You should provide OrexCA.com with passport data at least 25 days before arrival date in order that we may issue the visa support letter and provide you with accommodation confirmation 10 days before arrival date at the latest. To issue a Turkmen visa at Turkmen Embassies abroad takes 2-3 days maximum, however you must contact them directly (once you have the visa invitation letter). 

Upon arrival at Ashgabat International Airport, it is not required to complete a visa application form. However if you receive your visa at a Turkmen border, it is the responsibility of our representative to deliver visa application forms to fill in 1 or 2 days prior to your group's arrival in Turkmenistan, as required by SIS.
